Wine label design cost in 2026: what to budget

By Flor Gómez, founder · · 6 min read

A professionally designed wine label costs between US$2,000 and US$30,000 in 2026, excluding printing, with most boutique studio projects landing between US$3,000 and US$10,000 per label system.

Source of the range: Wine Business Monthly, 2026. It is an independent market benchmark, not our price list. The spread depends on who does the work and on what “a label” actually includes.

What actually moves the price

Number of SKUs and tiers, custom illustration or lettering, compliance across markets, structural or sustainable packaging choices, and how much strategy is missing before design can honestly start. The most expensive label is the one designed twice because the positioning was not settled.

Why the label earns its budget

On a crowded shelf the label is doing the selling before anyone tastes anything, and it is the one asset that has to work in every channel at once: shelf, wine list, screen and trade deck. The market rewards the brands that treat it as a decision rather than a decoration.

How to brief it well

Bring the decision, not the decoration: who is this bottle for, in which moment, against what alternatives, at what price. If those answers are missing, start with strategy; if they are settled, a studio can make them visible.
